Fall Fashion Brunch with LS Moda & SWFL Bloggers/Influencers

Event DecorEliComment

Influencers and bloggers in Southwest Florida came together over the last few months through Instagram just in time for the fall and holiday season. Although we don’t get much of fall weather in SWFL, it won’t stop our local community from bringing fashionable fall vibes to Naples!

The goal of our first large scale meet and greet, in addition to getting to know each other, was to support and share local companies. After all, that’s the ultimate goal of the relationship between companies and influencers. Within a few weeks of promoting the event through stories on Instagram, the event was sold out with 100 attendees.  Each guest received a gift bag with several coupons, goodies from local companies and were entered into several raffles worth approximately $1,500 in combined value. At the end of the article you find a list with links for all the businesses that provided collaborations and sponsorship for the first event of this type and magnitude in SWFL.

Juan, with @itsmysocialdiary, provided the space and backdrop for the event at Bistro La Baguette. The restaurant has a chic, elegant yet rustic vineyard feel. The combination of the velvet, deep purple chairs, winery collection of bottles and white brick walls was the perfect backdrop for decorating and a designers dream for an event space. The food was delicious and just thinking about it has me wanting more! They created a special menu for the event that included three entrees to choose from, a fruit tart for dessert and a bottle of champagne to share per 2 people at each table!

Sivys, with @sivysv and her husband Leo @leonardomarquez_fitness, recently launched her clothing line boutique, LS Moda, and provided the entertainment with a glimpse of her clothing line in our cities’ very own first FASHION SHOW!  The clothing pieces are super chic, high fashion and yet comfortable for our Florida-hot weather. The models were composed of local bloggers and boss babes from Naples! The boutique had the entire fall and summer collection displayed in a pop-up shop outside the restaurant. All attendees received an amazing 40% discount and an opportunity to feel the amazing quality of all the pieces.

Now we move on to my arena, the decorations! The fall fashion collection from LS Moda was the inspiration for the event decor and the main backdrop piece. I drew my inspiration from these two clothing pieces. The backdrop was a beautiful large 8x8 hedge piece framed with sunflowers and the LS Moda logo. The models walked through the aisles of tables and stoped at the backdrop for all to see and take pictures of the outfits. Of course, this focal backdrop was the center stage where all the influencers took group pictures and shared the event on their social media accounts. See below a full album of pictures from the attendees.

The tables were decorated with a small white-gold rustic pumpkin filled with fall colored flowers. Leaves were scattered throughout the tables and wine corks were used as place holders with the Instagram handles of the attendees. A small sunflower was placed next to each cork to tie in the backdrop look to the fall centerpieces.

The SWFL community is vibrant, stylish, and ready to show its presence in Naples, Florida. The best part is that we are doing it by coming together through amazing collaborations and support from local businesses. Stay tuned for many other events by following us!

Fall Decor & DIY Hedge Wall Photobrackdrop

Event Decor, FallEliComment

Every event needs a focal point, whether it be the cake table or a backdrop. Everyone wants something gorgeous in the background to take pictures with. The location of your event is what really determines if it needs to be something you can take with you all setup or if you have time to create it there.

This particular event took place at a restaurant, therefore it needed to be something that we could bring in and easily remove at the conclusion of the private event. Building a hedge backdrop is a little on the pricey side, depending on the size, and will definitely require some strong set of arms to help transport it. The one pictured is an 8x8 green hedge wall. It is super tall and wide, which covers a nice amount of space. This is perfect for larger events or when you are trying to cover the background for pictures. I do suggest that you measure the ceiling and doorway of the event location to ensure that it can fit. If your event or event location is smaller, perhaps cut the boards down to a 6.5 x 4 board.

The plywood boards can be purchased at your local hardware store. The one pictured at the SWFL Fall Event is two plywood 4x8 boards connected by 3 doorway hinges. This makes it easy to fold and transport. You can order different textures of faux hedges and use a heavy duty stapler to attach them on the plywood. Make sure you put enough staples so that it doesn’t fall out. Next, decorate it! You can either leave it bare or staple just about any flower or item to tie the theme together using this focal piece.

The centerpieces were made from foam pumpkins purchased at the Dollar Store. Yup, it’s true. I took the orange pumpkins and gave them two coats of white pain. Next I purchased gold marbleizing spray and painted over the white to create a rustic feel to the pumpkin.

Flowers, wether fresh or faux, can get pricey. There were over 15 tables at this event and each centerpiece takes approximately 3 bouquets of flowers as they come from the store. Styling a centerpiece takes a little bit of practice. The best recommendation is to take your prime flower pieces and place them in the vase or foam holder. Then begin your second color or flower type and slowly build from that. I finish it off by adding the mixers. Of your working with real flowers, I suggest doing this in reverse.

When on a budget, always go with white linens because they are versatile and can be reused for future events. The napkin and centerpiece is how you tie the color scheme of the design to the theme.

Small touches such as placing flower pots, pumpkins, and flowers throughout the event by doorways will bring together the design with a dash of elegance. There is no need to overfill a space with items to achieve the look or theme. Simplicity and a focal point is the key to the wow factor!

Kate Spade Inspired Bridal Shower - Her Legacy

Event DecorEliComment

Last year I helped throw a Kate Spade inspired bridal shower for one of my girlfriends, @ismifindsbalance , who lives by all things Kate Spade. I decided to bring this party from the archives and share our love for Kate Spade. The world of fashion benefited from Kate's ability to infuse color, whimsical styles, and above all classic designs that are perfect for city girls, suburban housewife, mother and daughter's alike.

Kate Spade achieved the introduction of affordable luxury by providing middle-class American's the ability to bring her style into their wardrobe and homes. She was not only a trend-setter in fashion, but the perfect "#bosslady" and business woman.

Kate Spade brought her style and quirky patterns to home decor and the party industry. Ismi's bridal shower was filled with laughter, champagne bubbles and lots of pink, striped and polka dots! It was a memorable and affordable bridal shower. Kate Spade will be missed and her legacy will continue to live in events like this one.

Ismi had a vision for her bridal shower and the collaboration between several stylish woman helped achieve this gorgeous celebration in her home. The first trick to throwing a party at home is to clean the house out! We took out everything; all the furniture, wall hangings, etc. Collaboration and borrowing items always keeps the cost down, but when that's not possible, chair and table rentals is still the better option than renting party space in a hotel or restaurant.

The second best tip to keeping costs down is to start purchasing white or black table linens from wholesale companies. Like your little black dress, white and black linens can be used at almost every single party. So next time you have a party, all you have to purchase is a table runner to tie in the theme of the party. I've linked some amazing online stores where you can find very affordable linens below.

After linens, the next key pieces to any party is the centerpieces and cake! The centerpiece vases are also items that you can keep recycling for your future parties. I purchased gold glitter paper from Michael's Craft Store and cut it a little bit to be able to fit it inside the vase cylinder. Not only is it more vibrant than painting the vases, but it continues to be a usable vase. By adding the colored and textured paper, the vase gives the table a more cohesive look.

While you're at the Dollar Store, or at a few of them in town tracking down vases, try to also find the best quality faux flowers you can there. After you've found the best quality flowers you can spot, than  you go to Michael's Crafts or Joan's Fabrics (with coupons if you can!)  to complete your flower arrangements. Every flower arrangement needs green inserts, some white or green flowers. You can continue re-using the greenery inserts for your future flower arrangements. Depending on the theme of the party, you purchase select pieces that fit the flower preference of the honored guest or color scheme of the party. For this theme, I went searching for bright pink flowers to incorporate in the flower arrangements I had pre-made. I am a huge fan of fresh flowers, but sometimes to keep costs down, faux flowers is the trick. If you spend your time finding good quality ones, trust me the appearance will be just fine. It is also a HUGE time saver to have these done before the day of the party.

The Bride-to-be had a few cake designs in mind. I took a bit of each design and combined it to create this beautiful piece and suprised her the day of the party. She was soooo happy to see a piece of each cake design she chose.  The cake always brings together the theme of the party, color scheme, and design.

The Bride-to-be, very much like me, likes to be a part of the design process and purchased and created all the cute sayings and small detailed touches found throughout the party. It may be traditional for the Bride to be surprised by the shower, but the modern woman wants to be a part of the design process. I think she loved being a part of it and it brought her more joy and satisfaction to see the final product come to life.

This is Ismi- The Bride

For backdrops we used wrapping paper and taped it very carefully to the wall. Every party now a days needs a photo booth area as well. We created one by layering gold and pink party frill and cut the strips so that you could see both colors. I handmade a frame using a recycled cardboard box. Using a sharp precise cutting knife, I made the cuts and than paper wrapped it and printed and glued the flower details. It makes it much easier to lift and hold up (specially after a few glasses of bubbly).

The food and bubble bar was all produced by the the Bride. She had a vision for brunch style appetizers and a do-it-yourself mimosa bubble bar. It was all sooooo delicious and surely made all the guests very happy. Although it is not a part of the design process, food and beverages are super important. After all, that is what keeps the party going!

I must say, the Kate Spade theme bridal shower was super fun to put together and so easy! The best suggestion I can make when planning a party is to draw from each others strengths and come together to throw the best party. It is very difficult to do it all your self. If you must, than perhaps cater the food and start putting things together well in advance.

I can't wait to read @ismifindsbalance blog post about her Bridal Shower (this one ;) ) and her take on the inspiration, food selection and her favorite details about the party!

Purchase & Re-create Party!

Safari Mickey - Liam's 2nd Birthday

Mickey Mouse basically rules the house of any 2 year old bThe toys, the TV,  Disney trips and well...the birthday party. Last year for Liam's second birthday, I knew I wanted to do a Mickey theme because that is all he liked at the moment, but wanted to find an alternative to the traditional red-color theme and decided to blend a safari look with Mickey!

Liam's first birthday we had a Circus theme with well over 100 guests. Yup, that many! Between both sides of the family, close friends, and daycare kiddos; the guest list adds up quickly. We knew that we needed a bit of a break for his second birthday since our new home was under construction . Sometimes cutting the guest list gets hard, especially when you don't want to offend anyone. So we decided to host an all day affair for the kids ONLY.

The biggest expense in any event is food and beverage. And well...in Florida...a tent with chairs and lots of fans is a necessity in May! We decided to focus on providing Liam and his daycare friends a truly fun-filled day rather than having another huge birthday party. The savings when you are only purchasing food, beverages, and rentals for kid activities makes a big difference. Think of it this way, for every daycare friend, the total number of invitees for that family is at least 3 (siblings and parents).

Liam's second birthday was hosted at his daycare. I took the day off to help with all the activities and to spend the day watching Liam have fun with his little friends.  In the morning they had water slides for the older kids and a baby pool for the little-little ones. There was buckets full of water balloons and outside games. For food, well what kid doesn't love pizza and ice cream! After nap time, a train cart gave them rides throughout the property and mini horse for those that liked animals. We also rented a regular bounce house and a face painter and balloon artist.

The goal of his second party was to save money, but primarily to focus on giving the kids a fun day! Some other tips to save money is the DIY method for just about anything. I spent many weeknights creating the invitations by hand and ordering various printing samples through Etsy. I re-purposed linens I had and only ordered the zebra print runner to give it the safari look. Used real plants as the center piece and ordered through Amazon safari plastic hats for all the kids.  I cut-out Mickey ears using back foam and inserted them through a slit on the plastic hat.

We held the cake-cutting at 6PM in order to allow time for family to arrive from work and asked the parents to pick-up their kids later than usual. The party was a success! The kids had a ton of fun, mommy & daddy saved a ton, and family was able to come and wish Liam a Happy Birthday!

The idea of hosting an only-kids-birthday came from the sleep-over idea from older kids. Consider this alternative if you're in a pinch or for some reason not able to host a large event one year. And, well, it gives more room in the budget for decor...jejejeje!

Comment below ideas for Liam's next birthday theme!! We are exactly one month away!

Circus Theme Birthday Party

Circus ThemeEliComment

I am delighted to announce that this party has been featured in Kara’s Party Ideas! Click on her name to see the article!

In 2016 little Liam turned ONE and the entire family was super excited to celebrate his birthday. Well...and mommy of course thrilled to plan another party! When I look back at the photographs of the birthday parties that my parents threw for me as a young child, I knew that I wanted to create those beautiful memories for my son.

Liam is also very blessed to have grandparents who believe that the first birthday party should be the most memorable. A circus was brought to Naples and built in the backyard. There was a Dumbo Elephant Ride, A Choo-Choo Train ride, bounce house, petting zoo, face painter, balloon artist, icee-cones, cotton candy and a mini horse ride.

The top birthday party themes of 2016 included circus, lumberjack, Mickey (every year it is in the top parties) and farm house. To date, the circus theme is a top theme due to all the available products on Oriental Trading, Shindigz and Etsy. My inspiration came from the local circus that came to town in February. A friend gave me a ticket for the circus and I immediately thought "how cute would a ticket invitation be!!!"    My Pinterest board was soon filled with inspiration from other wonderful profiles.

I am a do-it-yourself person, so I purchased many templates from Etsy and built the items and put together the personalized goody bags. My wonderful friends came early and helped me put the entire party together.

The trick to such an elaborate party is to begin purchasing your decor months in advance at a slow pace. That way your wallet is not hurting all at once. Although we did contract several vendors, the icy station or cotton candy can be a DIY station by renting the items from local vendors or purchasing small versions through Amazon.

All the kids had an amazing time and Liam's first birthday was a beautiful, and a very hot (literally) success!
